You mentioned Arthur C. Clarke in the show: sadly Clarke died this week in his adopted home of Sri Lanka. I'd like to pay tribute to him, a great SciFi author whose written works I grew up with. Of course, he was also the brilliant mind behind 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Rare in the SciFi space, this guy was the real thing: he worked with radar in WWII when it was first invented, and wrote an early paper suggesting how satellites could be used in inter-continental telecomms. As Dan might say: kudos to you Arthur C Clarke. Safe travels on your journey.

Why "Blue Box"?

  • We chose the name "Blue Box" primarily as a nod to the era of phone phreaking in part to illustrate that threats to telephony are not new - they just continue to change and evolve. That and admittedly the name just sounded cool.
